About Gär

 Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin (Party Town U.S.A.) in 1966, Gär, a.k.a Gary Brenner still resides in La Crosse to this day. Gary is the proud father of a smart and beautiful daughter, Candyce and lives with his longtime best friend and love, Jodianne. Being a lifelong resident of La Crosse is a blessing. It is called "God's Country" for a reason.

Gary took drum lessons as a young kid in grade school and was a member of "Music for America."  Music for America was comprised of kids from many different schools in the area and they marched in parades. Gary quit playing drums in order to participate in sports. The early years of lessons were instrumental as they taught Gary how to read music and play the rudiments.

 It wasn't until many years later, with the encouragement of good friend Mike Walgrave, that Gary would start playing drums again in his 40's. It is a hobby and Gary's busy life of running a small business and working on the historic church he purchased in 2019 only allows him minimal time to play. At the end of a long day, sitting down behind his kit and rocking out brings him so much joy. 

 Gary's analogy of what makes playing drums and learning how to play new songs exciting is comparing it to learning how to ride a bike. Remember how exciting that was? Learning how to ride a bike is something we never forget because we were young and it was super cool.

When learning a new song, after studying it and practicing it, and practicing it and practicing it, it is super exciting when you actually play it and nail it! 

 That being said, all of these videos were recorded on an iphone and they are unedited. 

Gary's future plans are to improve on his video and audio recording capabilities. Some steps have already been put into place. Gary would like to find other musicians to jam with in the near future and also learn to play other instruments, though drums will always be his favorite,
